Headquartered in St. John’s, NL, PAL Aerospace has grown in providing service to clients around the globe, with operations in Canada, Curacao, Trinidad & Tobago, and the United Arab Emirates. As the successful partner in Canada’s Fixed Wing Search and Rescue (FWSAR) program, PAL Aerospace has plans to further its expansion across the country, and is seeking an experienced, organized and outgoing Recruiter to join its St. John’s-based team.

The Recruiter will be responsible for delivering all facets of recruitment success throughout the organization, assisting with the implementation of the recruitment process from start to finish, as well as employing both new and traditional sourcing strategies. The Recruiter plays a critical role in ensuring we are hiring the best possible talent by developing and executing recruitment plans, networking within industry groups and maintaining accurate administration. While this role will execute recruitment for all PAL Aerospace operations, the Recruiter will maintain the unique opportunity to contribute to the talent acquisition setup of this historic FWSAR program.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Commence the recruitment process from requisition to the offer stage, ensuring professionalism and efficiency through all stages; 

  • Work closely with the Talent Acquisition Manager to develop unique and customized recruitment strategies for positions, ensuring a comprehensive approach to advertising and recruitment marketing; 

  • Draft all recruitment documents including external and internal recruitment advertisements and post them in approved mediums;

  • Maintain accurate recording of all advertising costs, avenues and closing dates;

  • Review and evaluate applicant qualifications or eligibility, often for specified licensing according to established guidelines and designated licensing codes;

  • Act as the HR point of contact within the interview process, participating in both phone and in-person interviews with the Hiring Manager and/or subject matter expert;

  • Lead the new hire process with relevant managers, prior to the onboarding stage;

  • Work extensively with our internal recruitment programs to track all status changes in real time, ensuring all information is recorded and filed appropriately within the system;

  • Coordinate with our Generalist team to facilitate our internal recruitment processes; 

  • Actively develop a pool of qualified candidates for common positions and locations in advance of need;

  • Research and recommend new sources for active and passive candidate recruiting;

  • Build networks to find qualified passive candidates, particularly through professional social media channels;

  • Assist in Job Fair and Recruitment events, as necessary; and

  • Assist in general Human Resources tasks and objective on an as-needed basis.


  • Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma, preferably with a focus in Human Resources

  • 3+ years’ of proven experience recruiting for professional and technical positions;

  • Experience working on a highly collaborative team, coupled with a strong team player attitude is critical for success in this role;

  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to effective convey messaging to candidates, managers and senior leadership in both written and oral communications;

  • A proactive approach to recruitment, always seeking to develop a talent pool for upcoming positions before a need is established;

  • The ability to work in a result-focused and fast-paced environment, where changing priorities is constant;

  • A strong track record in time management and prioritization of multiple competing projects;

  • High flexibility, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively with different managers, candidate personalities, etc. 

  • Good listening and probing skills, building upon a natural sense of curiosity;

  • Outstanding interviewing skills whether in-person or over the phone – the ability to make a candidate comfortable and bring out the necessary information in a positive experience;

  • Highly detail oriented, always keeping information updated and readily available for team members and/or management;

  • Innovative in striving to find new ways to find passive candidates, opportunities for recruitment marketing, etc.; 

  • The ability and drive to work under pressure to meet departmental targets;

  • A strong knowledge of MS Office Suite is essential.
