PAL Aerospace has built its reputation on decades of excellence in offshore surveillance, backed by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) contract since 1990. This year marked the historic award for the new contract for our team, providing DFO with continued surveillance services utilizing a fleet of Beechcraft King Air B200 and Dash 8-100 series aircraft.

With a secure future in offshore surveillance, PAL Aerospace is actively hiring flight crew to join our team, working on exciting, rewarding and unique programs at our St. John’s, NL operation.

In a position of a Captain AMSD, your duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Operation and safety of the aircraft and for the safety of all persons on board during flight time

  • Ensure that crew members are fit for duty and perform their duties in a proper manner during flight

  • Ensure that the required documentation, manuals, maps and charts are on board

  • Carry out pre-flight briefing and checks

  • Ensure that the aircraft journey book is maintained, legible and in proper order

  • Responsible for recording defects of the aircraft that have come to his knowledge during the flight and notifying the maintenance department

  • In conjunction with Dispatch, familiarize on the basis of the latest available information with:

    • The planned route and the airports it is planned to use for destination, alternate or emergency purposes

    • The reported and forecast winds for the route

    • The reported and forecast meteorological conditions for the routes, destination and alternate airports

  • Signify acceptance of responsibility for the flight by co-signing the Operational Flight Plan and other forms requiring signature

  • Other duties as assigned


  • 4000 hours Total Time

  • 750 hours low level

  • 1000 hours PIC

  • Pilot license (ATPL)

  • Experience on DHC-8 Dash 8 aircraft is preferred

  • Demonstrated analytical and decision making skills

  • Demonstrated teamwork and interpersonal skills

  • Valid passport as candidates are required to travel to the USA for training

  • Must be able to obtain required security clearances
